Donations to Heritage Hunt Chapter

The Heritage Hunt Chapter provides a scholarship to an ROTC student at each of the four local high schools sponsored by the Chapter.  These scholarships and our support to Wounded Warriors are funded by tax deductible donations to the Chapter. 100% of these funds are used for these purposes.

The Chapter is an IRS-approved 501(C)(19) War Veterans organization.  Because of that designation and the letter from the IRS in the Chapter records, all donations to the Chapter are tax deductible to the donor.

The Chapter Treasurer provides each donor a letter documenting that donation as tax deductible for the donor's tax return.

Please forward donations by check made out to HH Chapter MOAA and mark  "Donation" in the memo line to:

Tip of the Hat to members of the Heritage Hunt Chapter for setting up a JROTC scholarship program that provides an annual $500 scholarship to each of four JROTC units supported by the Chapter.

JROTC Scholarships and

Medals Awarded

The Heritage Hunt Chapter of the Military Officer Association of America (MOAA) has just completed awarding Leadership Medals and Chapter Scholarships to outstanding students at three local High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) units. The Heritage Hunt Chapter awarded a five hundred dollar scholarship to each of the following JROTC cadets, all of whom plan to enroll in a college ROTC program in pursuit of a commission in one of the Armed Services:  John Laskodi (Battlefield HS); Matthew Stannard (Osbourn Park HS); and Katherine Sherrill (Stonewall Jackson HS).  The Chapter scholarships are awarded competively based on outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential as demonstrated through performance in assigned JROTC duties and other school and community public service activities. Students competing for the scholarships must show evidence that they intend to pursue a commission through enrollment in a college ROTC commissioning program.

The Heritage Hunt MOAA Chapter also administers the annual award of National Medals to rising seniors who are members of area JROTC units. The National MOAA Medals are awarded to recognize outstanding leadership and academic achievements by cadets who are participating in JROTC programs throughout the country and who exhibit a high potential for military leadership. Recipients of the National MOAA Medals at area JROTC units for academic year 2010-2011 are: John Martin (Osbourn Park HS); Ryan Vital (Stonewall Jackson HS); William J. Putt (Liberty HS).

All of the awards were made by members of the Heritage Hunt Chapter of MOAA at JROTC Awards Ceremonies or at Senior Awards Nights at the respective area High Schools.
